On listening back through some of the Dividend episodes, I wondered if you ever came across a podcast series called ‘A Phone Call From Paul’? I think you’d find much there to enjoy, that chimes with some of these enquiries. Paul Holdengräber was the former director of New York Public Library’s public programming. They are all gentle enquiries with writers, poets, artists etc. Borne, like your series, out of lockdown.
I enjoyed this conversation. I agree that love and hate are sides of the same coin. On power, I'm not so sure, although I think it throws up many interesting ideas around structures of control and measures of force. I think indifference is possibly the antonym I'd most readily reach for. Though there is a quote from Laurence Sterne – 'to define is to distrust' and I wander how slippery and misleading all of these reaches for meaning must always inevitably be.
